Nenana, AK — Birch-Bark Weaver
Anika learned traditional birch-bark weaving from her grandmother, working alongside her every summer as a child harvesting bark and learning the patience the craft demands. Today she combines those traditional techniques with modern silhouettes, creating baskets and trivets that feel equally at home in a cabin or a downtown apartment.

Tomas turns bowls, spoons, and serving pieces from birch and cherry salvaged from Interior logging operations — wood that would otherwise go to waste. Each piece is finished with food-safe oil and shows the natural grain of trees that grew through decades of Interior winters.

Malia makes small-batch, cold-process soap using birch charcoal and locally distilled spruce-tip essential oil. Her soaps are formulated for the dry Interior climate and made in batches small enough that she can vouch for every bar.
